Foodborne Pathogens that Cause Food Poisoning

Foodborne pathogens are the invisible villains in our kitchens. They’re microscopic, silent, and unfortunately, can cause severe illnesses when they infiltrate our food and water supplies. The “big six” foodborne pathogens, responsible for the most foodborne illness are Norovirus, Nontyphoidal Salmonella, Salmonella Typhi, E. coli, Shigella, and Hepatitis A.

In addition, Campylobacter, Clostridium perfringens, Listeria, Staphylococcus, and Toxoplasma are all serious and common foodborne pathogens.

These pathogens are infamous offenders in the realm of foodborne illnesses because of their resilience, prevalence, and the severity of the diseases they cause.
